New Clio Renaultsport 197 reveals its sports heritage both inside and out. The exterior design features specific body parts which accentuate Clio III's racy, muscular styling.
Clio III's distinctive, original lines have been further enhanced by the use of more athletic curves, while new Clio Renaultsport's specific side design exudes extra power and energy. The wider front and rear wings, lowered stance, profiled side skirts and semi-rigid under-bumper splitter combine with the extractor vents and diffuser to assert the new car's advanced aerodynamic engineering and sports heritage.
Designed and positioned for optimal clarity, the instruments feature white data on a black background. The rev counter incorporates a gear-change indicator light, while the size of the figures increases as the needle gets closer to the red zone at 7,500 rpm.
The Clio Renaultsport is powered by the F4R RS normally-aspirated 2.0 16V engine which delivers 197 bhp at 7,250 rpm and maximum torque of 159 lb-ft at 5,550 rpm. Based on the engine which forged the reputation of Clio Renaultsport 182 2.0 16V, it boasts a specific power output of near 100 bhp per liter which ensures exceptional performance for New Clio Renaultsport in the hot hatch segment. The normally-aspirated engine combines performance, dynamism, flexibility, immediate response and excellent re-acceleration from all engine speeds. It is also easier to adapt for competition use in derivatives such as the Clio Group N and Clio Cup one-make race versions.
The new Clio Renaultsport comes with an evolution of the TL4 six-speed gearbox, the first Alliance-developed manual transmission which is capable of handling up to 177 lb-ft. This precision, close-ratio gearbox favors acceleration from all intermediate engine speeds.

By taking Megane Renault Sport Coupe and refining its sleek lines, Renault’s designers have come up with a racing saloon with a silhouette resembling the awesome German touring.
Based on the V6 unit fitted to Vel Satis, the powerplant has been developed in collaboration with Nismo, Nissan’s motorsport department, and adapted for competition to produce over 320 bhp, featuring a semi-dry sump. Trackside, all maintenance and technical assistance will be provided by Solution F.
For electronic management, Renault Sport enlisted the services of Magnetti-Marelli. The result is a brand new unit that includes all engine, gearbox and automatic clutch management functions. It also provides a data acquisition function, an essential element that will enable drivers and engineers to unleash every horse under the bonnet.
Next spring, around 30 Megane Trophy will be lining up on the grid as one of the star attractions of the World Series by Renault, alongside the New Formula Renault V6. For the 2005 season, eight European race meetings and 16 races are on the agenda, with tightly regulated testing and tire usage in order to limit the costs to teams, always a core concern for Renault Sport.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS is beautiful to look at and almost as pleasing to drive.
The CLS550 is a four-passenger sedan. It is powered by a 382 hp 5.5-liter V8. The CLS550 comes with leather seats with three-position memory, four-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker harman/kardon audio system and hand-rubbed wood trim. Safety features that come on all CLS models include front multi-stage airbags, side-impact airbags for front and rear passengers, front and rear curtain-style head protection airbags, seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, ABS with Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program, a roll-over sensor, low-tire warning system and Tele-Aid emergency telematics.

The 612 Scaglietti is not only much more comfortable, powerful and expensive than the average 2+2 (like Porsche's 911, a 2+2-seater is a coupe with a tiny backseat that is in some cases uninhabitable), it is the newest flagship--not counting the limited-edition, $652,000 Enzo Ferrari supercar, which is sold out--from the company that has an extraordinarily emotional relationship with automobiles. Maranello, Ferrari's headquarters, is steeped in pride and enthusiasm for the company. A father held his little girl's hand on the public side of Fiorano's gates so that both could watch journalists leaving the grounds in a parade of 612s.
Indeed, the 612 Scaglietti is maybe the best car we've ever tested. Should you have the good fortune to drive it on the Fiorano track, you will not be disappointed (but don't wear big shoes, particularly if they're square-toed. If you need to brake hard in an instant, the pedals are placed such that a nonracing shoe might stick a bit to the gas when you need it to be completely on the brake). Since most of us who have the chance to drive a Ferrari do not get to do it at Ferrari headquarters, you will also be delighted to know that the 612 Scaglietti is just as fun in public. It will make you want to control its raw power from its supple leather bucket seats all day long.

Like the prancing horses on their flanks, Ferraris are meant to run free. So imagine the frustration when my allotted test drive coincided with the biggest downpour in 50 years. As the Hunter Valley was filling up last week, I was negotiating traffic and blustery weather in the fastest and most expensive Ferrari in Australia today. Oh, and the car is already sold, so don't bend it. Nervous? What do you reckon.
Fortunately the 599 has four modes of stability control (race, sport, rain and ice), selected via a neat alloy switch on the F1-inspired steering wheel, which also houses a bright red start button and, on this car, a row of LEDs that light up as you approach maximum revs. Nice.

The 528i and 535i will be offered as wagons as well as rear-wheel-drive sedans; all-wheel drive versions of the 528 and 535 sedans and the 535 wagon are also available.
550i models have an optional Aero Package that looks almost as aggressive as the high-performance M5's exterior. A gaping front air dam, bulging side skirts and a sporty rear bumper push the 550i's looks as far as they can go before entering M5 territory (and price).
The 528i's revised inline-six-cylinder engine produces 230 hp, up from 215. The 550i retains its 360-hp, 4.8-liter V-8. In the 535i, the 3 Series' twin-turbocharged engine adds 45 hp and 80 pounds-feet of torque over the 530i.
BMW's lane-departure-warning feature sends a vibration through the steering wheel to alert drivers if their vehicle veers from a lane of traffic when the turn signal isn't used. An interior-mounted camera on the windshield monitors lane markings.

2008 BMW M3


The new M3 is a bigger step away from the standard 3 Series coupe than any of its predecessors ever were. It’s different in a number of areas, but all the intrinsic M3 qualities remain.
The fourth-generation model boasts twice the cylinder count and double the power of the first-generation model. The most-advanced engines ever to head into a road car: double Vanos variable camshaft control, individual throttle butterflies for each cylinder, equal-length stainless-steel exhaust system, force regulated oil supply and ionic current knock detection governed by the most powerful engine-management system BMW has developed—the so-called MS S60.
A power button located down by the driver’s thigh on the center console also offers two different engine maps. Stick it in normal mode, and you think it feels strong until you dial up the more aggressive sport mode and there is a heightening in response.
Significantly, the 4.0-liter is lighter and shorter than the six it replaces, allowing BMW to mount it farther back in the engine bay for an even more favorable weight distribution. It’s the output that steals the show, though. With a heady 420 hp at 8300 rpm, the new V8 endows the new M3 with 77 hp more than its predecessor while retaining the car’s reputation for delivering more than 100 hp per liter. Torque has also risen by 27 lb-ft to 295 lb-ft at a high 3900 rpm.
